The Lowest Point on Earth
Dead Sea Tours
Dead Sea Tours
There is a reason why the Abrahamic religions all got their start in the desert: This is a tranquil and barren place, where one can forget about the outside world and concentrate on what’s important. It is therefore no wonder that for most travelers to Israel, a visit to the Dead Sea Region and the Judean Desert remains a highlight of their trip. Where else can you explore the oldest city in the world, see the place of Jesus‘ Baptism, experience the site where the world’s oldest Bible manuscripts were found, hike an ancient desert oasis, adore the ruins of a desert fortress built by a ruthless king and float in the world’s lowest body of water – all on the same day? Only in the Dead Sea Region and the Judean Desert!
WONDERS
OF THE DESERT
A CLASSIC TOUR OF THE
DEAD SEA REGION
During this full-day tour we will understand the historic, biblical and political significance of the Dead Sea Region and we will “feel” the Judean Desert.
On our way to the lowest point on earth, we will make a short stop at an observation point, where we will marvel at the St. George Monastery, which has been built into the cliffs above Wadi Qelt canyon. From there we will drive to Ein Gedi, a beautiful desert oasis with an ancient history. Here we will take a short hike towards the famous David-waterfall.
After lunch we will continue towards Masada, site of King Herod’s impressive desert fortress. We will also discuss the epic story of Jewish resistance against Roman oppression during the great Revolt in the year 73 AD. We will end this day by visiting the Dead Sea, where we will spend some time “swimming” in the water and relaxing on the beach.

JESUS
IN THE DESERT
A CHRISTIAN TOUR OF THE JUDEAN DESERT
As a place of tranquility and solitude, the Judean Desert has always been a refuge for the city dwellers of Jerusalem. No wonder, then, that many Jesus-stories of the New Testament took place right here.
Our first stop along the way to the Dead Sea Region will be the lookout point over the St. George Monastery, which has been built into the cliffs overlooking the Wadi Qelt canyon.
From there, we will take a short drive towards Jericho, the “City of Palms”. Sites within this oldest city in the world include Zacchaeus’ Sycamore tree, Tell es-Sultan, Elisha’s Spring and a look at Mount Temptation from below. The journey continues towards the Jordan Baptismal Site of Qasr al-Yahud and the National Park of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered by Bedouin shepherds in 1947.
We will end this day by visiting the Dead Sea, where we will spend some time “swimming” in the water and relaxing on the beach.

A HIKING TOUR OF THE
JUDEAN DESERT
Understand why the Judean Desert is such a magnificent place by hiking in it. This tour is suitable only for guests who are fit to participate in mild physical activities.
We will start this full-day tour with a hike to the St. George Monastery, which has been built into the cliffs above the Qadi Qelt Canyon. Along the way we will experience the beauty and tranquility of the desert, while discussing the current political situation of this area.
The second hike of the day will take place in the National Park of Ein Gedi, which is a unique oasis located in the middle of the desert. Ein Gedi has a long and illustrious history, which we will discuss while marveling at this site’s flora and fauna.
We will end the day by visiting the Dead Sea, where we will “swim” in this lowest body of water in the world. Afterwards we will relax on the beach and enjoy the later afternoon’s sun, before beginning our journey back to the hotel.
